(Re) EMERGING Infectious Diseases at a Global Scale
1-5 July 2024, Leiden
The Eurolife Network is offering 27 grants to encourage international attendance at our upcoming summer school. The Call for the Eurolife grants closes on 29 February 2024 General application deadline (without a grant): 30 April 2024 submitted to summerschool2024@lumc.nl
Our primary objective is to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of globally relevant innovative solutions for addressing both current and emerging infectious diseases.
The escalating threat posed by infectious diseases is projected to surpass cancer as the leading cause of death worldwide within the next 50 years. Contributing factors include antimicrobial resistance, migration patterns, pandemics, overpopulation, climate change, and intensive agriculture. Given the borderless nature of infectious agents, a global approach is imperative to combat these challenges effectively.
Our summer school will delve into these issues, featuring expert lectures covering diverse themes such as One Health, AI applications in diagnostics, computational models, and vaccination strategies. Participants will gain insights into potential solutions for tackling new and recurring infectious diseases.
Furthermore, collaborative group assignments will involve the creation of a white paper focused on addressing future challenges related to infectious diseases. By leveraging the diverse perspectives of students from around the globe, participants will actively contribute to envisioning and addressing these critical issues.
